A o, as in νηλεής, νήριθμος, νήκεστος, νήνεμος, νηπελέω, νῆστις, νωδός, νώδυνος, or before consonants, as in νηκερδής, νήκερως, νηπαθής, νηπενθής, νήποινος. (Cf. Lat. nè- η arises from I.-E. contraction and is used by analogy in combination with consonants.)
